I started dancing when I was able to balance on my 2 feet. Then my parents bought me the Wii console with the Just Dance and Michael Jackson games...then it was history from there. I knew what talent God had given me...and it was the love for music. Every step I took had some kind of rhythm and groove in it. I was too busy to take hip hop classes on a regular basis. So instead, I would just watch different Youtube videos and learn the latest moves. One day I tried my hand at mixing music and I loved it. Dancing and DJ'ing work hand-in-hand in this line of business. I can bust my groove thing when I'm spinning for parties.
Just as Confucius says, "Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life."
Having said that, I want to share with you that there are some music genres that I don't carry. Those genres are heavy metal, hard rock and rock. I have a short list of latin/salsa music and country, but not enough for me to spin at a Country or Latin event. I mostly carry EDM (that's what I really enjoy), dance music (80's, 90's and top hits) and also have R&B and smooth jazz for a more lighter, quieter event.
There is a lot of time needed in the preparation for an event. A lot of the songs now can be inappropriate for certain ages. I make sure that the songs I play are appropriate for the crowd I am playing for. I have a playlist prepared prior to the event and I make sure that I meet with the host of the event to fully understand what they are expecting. Feel free to email me (email@example.com ) a suggested songs list so that I can make sure I have the songs on my playlist for your event.
